Introducing Uno Más: In Memory of Gabe Torres

In partnership with Team Raleigh LEU, we added Uno Más to our coffee collection to honor Gabe Torres. 

Uno Más, which translates to "One More" in Spanish, was a phrase Gabe often used during his time at the police academy in Raleigh, North Carolina. Whenever someone was doing a push-up, sit-up, or burpee, he would encourage them to push for one more. Gabe went above and beyond the call of duty, always with a smile on his face, spreading positivity and humor.

Gabe served in United States Marine Corps and meritoriously earned the rank of Sergeant in December 2020. Shortly after serving his time as a Marine, he joined the Raleigh Police Department in March of 2021.

On October 13, 2022, Gabe was tragically killed in a neighborhood mass shooting while on his way to work the night shift at Raleigh Police Northwest District. He is survived by his wife, Jasmin, and their daughter, Layla. Gabe was many amazing things, more importantly a husband, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend to many. His presence is missed deeply.

We couldn’t think of a better way to honor his legacy than by partnering with Raleigh Team LEU, hosted by the Raleigh Police Department Foundation (a 501c3 organization). Their mission is to raise funds throughout the year to support organizations like Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S). Donations from Raleigh Team LEU help fund initiatives like Kid Camp, a free summer camp for families of officers who have died in the line of duty. The camp provides children with the opportunity to connect with peers who are experiencing similar losses, meet with counselors, and simply enjoy being kids. Every May, a group from Raleigh rides their bikes to Washington, D.C., to honor fallen officers. Along the way, they lay wreaths at various police stations in remembrance of those who have passed.

With every purchase of the selected coffee, $5 will go towards supporting this incredible cause, helping other kids like Layla live a purposeful life after such a devastating loss.
